Prices are indicative and follow the world market price of gold and silver, which changes continuously during the day. They do not constitute a binding offer. The final price is set at the in-person valuation based on the item's weight, purity and condition, and is given to you before you decide. Gemstones, clasps and other parts that are not precious metal are not counted in the weight.
How the gold price works
Gold is traded internationally in US dollars per troy ounce, which is 31.1 grams. The price we show is the current spot price converted to Swedish kronor per gram, so you can compare it directly with the weight of your jewellery.
Jewellery is rarely made of pure gold. The purity is in the hallmark: 750 means 75 per cent gold (18 carat) and 585 means 58.5 per cent (14 carat). The value of the gold in a piece of jewellery is therefore the gold price times the purity times the weight.
Why does a buyer pay less than the spot price?
Gold that is bought in has to be tested, melted and refined before it becomes pure gold again. Those costs, plus a margin for risk and work, mean the buying price is below the spot price. With us you always see both figures before you decide.
