Swedish silver hallmarks
Swedish silver carries a series of hallmarks: three crowns, a town mark, a date letter and the silver standard. Before 1912, silver was marked 13 lod, equivalent to 813H. After 1912, 830 is the most common. Sterling 925 appears mainly on later items and jewellery.
Silver-plated items, often marked EPNS, NS, GAB-alpacka or nysilver, contain almost no silver and are not bought as silver.
How we set the price
We weigh the silver and deduct filled handles and steel knife blades. The price follows today's silver price multiplied by the silver content. If an item has a well-known designer or workshop behind it, we also assess its collector's value.
